THE POWER OF AFFIRMATIONS AND HOW TO OPTIMISE THEIR SUCCESS The use of positive I am affirmations can be an effective technique to help you achieve what you want to be, do or have. Here are some tips on how to make them successful for you. 1. Practicing meditation trains your brain to gain in control of your thoughts. Once you become more aware of your thoughts when you find yourself thinking negative thoughts there will be a brief silence in between them. Focus on that silence. 2. Decide what you want and write it down. Don’t do this half heartedly you have to really, really, really want it. 3. Design your positive affirmations to match your desires, stay away from negative words such as not, don’t, can’t, try. Write them in the present tense, as though you already have what you want, and begin them with the powerful words ‘I Am’, for example ‘I am financially abundant, money flows to me easily’. 4. Repeat your affirmations constantly throughout the day and especially before you go to sleep. If your old doubt creeps back in drown it out with the positive affirmations. Although at first your affirmations will not feel true to you the more you repeat them the more they will start to be your truth. Repetition is the key to success. 5. After repeating your affirmations, give thanks for already having want you want for example ‘I am fully healthy and well. Thank you for my perfect health’. Expressing gratitude has been shown to rewire the brain allowing it to focus it’s attention on the positive and creating a feel good factor. 6. If you ask your brain a question it is designed to give you an answer. So to experience the feelings of already having what you want ask your brain the question – ‘What/How would it feel to be successful in my career’ then focus on the feelings that come to you. 7. Visualise what you want as though you already have it, in as much detail as you can, bask in the joy of having it. The brain doesn’t know the difference between reality and fiction. 8. Crossing the arms and legs over the mid line of your body engages the right and left side of your brain to work simultaneously, allowing optimal brain function. So repeat your affirmations with your limbs crossed. 9. Place your hands on your heart and focus your concentration on your heart, feel your breath flow coming from and back to your heart, this will allow you to get out of your head and the negative voice of your subconscious. Repeat your affirmations while in your heart to allow them to ring more true for you. 10. Repeat your affirmations to yourself while looking into your eyes in the mirror 11. Keep focused on what you do want not what you don’t want. Remember you have a choice – You can stay as you are or you can choose to change by staying focused on your positive affirmations until they become your dominant thoughts and feelings.
